Attention Agile practitioners!
- Are you struggling to facilitate effective Scrum events like Sprint planning, Daily scrum, and Sprint retrospectives? Look no further! Here are some tips to help you lead successful scrum events:
- Sprint Planning: Topic One: Why is this Sprint valuable? Topic Two: What can be Done this Sprint? Topic Three: How will the chosen work get done? Ensure the entire team is present and engaged Product Owner Proposes and the whole Scrum team Collobarates the sprint goal Developers Selects the items from the Product Backlog into the current Sprint Developers plan the work necessary to create an Increment that meets the Definition of Done Allow team members to ask questions and provide input End the Planning with a Sprint Backlog (The Sprint Goal, the Product Backlog items selected for the Sprint, plus the plan for delivering them are together referred to as the Sprint Backlog
- Daily Scrum: Keep it short and sweet (no longer than 15 minutes) The Developers can select whatever structure and techniques they want, as long as their Daily Scrum focuses on progress toward the Sprint Goal and produces an actionable plan for the next day of work. This creates focus and improves self-management (Do not force to Stick to the three questions: What did you accomplish yesterday, what are you working on today, and what roadblocks are in your way? Encourage collaboration and problem-solving Use a physical or virtual visual aid to keep everyone on the same page
- Sprint Retrospectives: Create a safe space for team members to share feedback and opinions Focus on what worked well, what didn’t work, and what can be improved Use a sprint retrospective format that works for your team (e.g. Liked, Learned, Lacked, Longed For) Make sure everyone has an opportunity to contribute End with actionable next steps to address identified issues
